Apostille of documents for use abroad
Apostille is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. Canada is not a party to the Hague Convention, so it is not possible to get an apostille certificate issued in Canada. Instead, you need the Canadian equivalent of apostille, which is done by a three-step procedure: (1) notarize, (2) authenticate, and (3) legalize. Once these three steps are completed, your Canadian document is valid for use overseas.
