The government of Canada introduces a new policy that allows the Extended Family Members to enter Canada

The government of Canada introduces a new policy that allows the Extended Family Members to enter Canada

The government of Canada introduced a new process that allows extended family members of Canadian citizens or Permanent residents to enter Canada.

The “Extended Family Members” include:

  • Individuals in an exclusive dating relationship with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident for at least 1 year,
  • Non-dependent child (adult children)
  • Grandchildren
  • Siblings (including half and step siblings)
  • Grandparents

The Extended Family Members will need to prepare the completed and signed “Application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM0006)” and a written authorization from the IRCC. The written authorization is a letter from the IRCC confirming that the family member is exempt from the travel restrictions. It is important that you do not make any travel plans until all the required documents are obtained.

The extended family members will be subject to the mandatory 14-day quarantine period.

We can assist you with either the application, the notarization of the form IMM0006, or both.

PROCEDURE TO OBTAIN AND OPEN IMM0006

Step 1 – You must install Adobe Acrobat Reader on a laptop / computer prior to downloading the IMM0006E file. Note that mobile / smartphone versions of Adobe are NOT supported.

Step 2 – On a computer, right click this link, then select “Save link as…” to download the IMM0006E fillable PDF (do NOT click the link to open the PDF). It will NOT open in Chrome / web browser.

Step 3 – Use Adobe Reader to open the IMM0006E PDF file in the location you downloaded it.

This is a fillable PDF form provided by the Canadian Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You will need Adobe Reader to properly open this file.

NOTARIZE THE IMM0006 FORM

Once you have filled out the form IMM0006, you will need a notary public to witness your signature. At Invicta Law Corporation, we can help you.

Contact us today to find out more, or to have your documents notarized.
